Let’s talk…Permitted Development Rights

It is commonly understood that a domestic property can be altered, upgraded or extended in a variety of ways without the need for obtaining Planning Permission. Not so common however is the understanding that similar beneficial rights exist for commercial properties too.

From changes of use and alterations, to small extensions or additional hard standing as well as a host of other possible works, Permitted Development rights for various use classes of commercial premises can be utilised to make the most  out of your property, or to upgrade a building to meet your needs.

Of course, there are exceptions and limitations to what can be carried out under Permitted Development depending on location, position, or use class among other things, so always make sure you fully understand your rights and if in doubt seek the advice of a professional who can guide you through the process of determining what you can achieve.
