AG’s Su Sealby Running 5k for Cancer Research

One of AG’s experienced Senior Building Surveyors, Su Sealby is raising funds to support the fight against cancer. Su and others, joined this year’s Tatton Park 5K, which took place on Saturday the 22nd June and was in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Su was joined by her daughter Eva and family friend Freya. This was in fact the third time the team have taken part in the event, and so far they have raised £215. Although Su’s page remains open for further donations.

Like so many people in the UK, Su’s family suffered a loss to cancer a few years ago when her mum (pictured below) lost her battle with the disease.

Su told us “Eva, myself and Freya are taking part for the third year running in what has become our annual run in memory of my lovely mum. Sadly, I’m sure you have all known someone, no matter how close to you that has suffered from the dreaded C.

My mum was just like every other amazing mum out there, but of course she was extra special to me. She was dedicated to her family and was always there for us, as mums do. She was so caring, the funniest person I know with a wicked sense of humour and taught me that life is for living. She has been my partner in crime my whole life and those who know me well will know how close we were. Loosing her has been a massive loss and a void that will never be filled.

I hate cancer and everything that comes with it. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. The fight against cancer is a hopeful one, cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years, which is an incredible achievement. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
