Focus on: Celebrating Women in the Built Environment

As we mark International Women’s Day 2024, it’s an opportune moment to reflect on the progress made towards gender equality in the built environment industry. At AG Built Environment Consultancy, we’re championing diversity and inclusion in our workplace and beyond, hear more from our Operations & People Director, Kirsty Robinson.

Inspiring Inclusion: Forging a Better World

Inclusion is about creating a culture where every person feels valued, respected and empowered to contribute their best – and be themselves at work.

There’s a lot to be said about going to work and being able to be yourself. This is something we encourage across AG, it’s part of our ethos. Different personalities, cultures, backgrounds and experiences gives us the power to learn from each other, and also support each other as we navigate the workplace.

AG’s Gender Split: A Step Towards Equality

As of February 2024, we’re proud to share that 37.25% of our team are female. While we’ve made significant strides, we acknowledge there’s still work to be done. In our fee-earning roles, women represent 22.7%, and in management positions, 26.31%. These numbers serve as a reminder of the importance of ongoing efforts to promote gender equality at all levels across the business.

Celebrating Women’s Contributions

Today, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in the built environment. From architects and engineers to project managers and surveyors, women play a vital role in shaping the landscapes of our places and communities. Their talent, expertise and leadership inspire us all to reach greater heights and break barriers.

Inspiring the Next Generation

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let’s not forget the importance of inspiring the next generation of women leaders in the built environment. Through our AG Academy, we encourage all aspiring surveyors looking to become chartered to get involved. Most recently, Elinor Fromant passed her APC to become a Chartered Surveyor. We’re also advocates of Apprenticeships, and we’re pleased to see our Apprentice Building Surveyor, Grace Elswood developing and thriving.
